Sometimes finding a Japanese language tutor may be quite a challenge for some of us, especially if we live in smaller cities or countries where the exposure toward Japanese influence is minimal. If you can’t find a Japanese language tutor nearby, there is no reason to give up on learning Japanese. In this post I will share some tips to help you learn Japanese by yourself. 1. One of the recommended books that I know and have read is called “Minna no Nihongo”.  Every time somebody asks for a recommended Japanese learning book, Minna no Nihongo is most probably one of the most mentioned books out of other recommendations. Are you planning to learn Japanese? and are you also planning to learn it by yourself? If so, there are several things that you need to put into consideration. Learning a language by yourself, especially if it is Japanese which is one of the hardest languages according to some sources, is indeed challenging and not an easy task. However, if you are still planning to learn Japanese by yourself, you should consider some of the things below. 1. The test itself is divided into five levels which are N5 (the lowest level) up to N1(The highest level). In the test, there are Listening section and non-listening section that include a grammar test and vocabulary test. All of the answers are multiple choice. JLPT Examination is usually held only twice a year (first Sunday of July and December), and the quota of each city can be pretty limited. That is why if you want to take the examination, you should register for the test as soon as possible. In this post I will share with you some tips to hopefully make you also pass the test. Personally, I have passed the level N3 and N2 in JLPT Examination by learning just by myself which is why I am co...

Personally, I have been learning Japanese by myself for about eight years now. In this past eight years I have seen several challenges that you may also find if you are going to learn Japanese by yourself. So for today’s blog, I will share with you some challenges that you may also find if you are planning to learn Japanese by yourself. 1. Lack of Guidance The first challenge that is really clear from learning the Japanese language just by yourself is the lack of guidance. As there is no teacher that will teach you about the language or how you should study the language, you have to do everything yourself. You have to teach yourself about the language and you have to make your own learning schedule and plan instead of somebody doing it for you.  2. Procrastination The second challenge is the enemy of everyone who is trying to do some...
