Things That You Need to Consider Before You Decide to Learn Japanese Just By Yourself.

Are you planning to learn Japanese? and are you also planning to learn it by yourself? If so, there are several things that you need to put into consideration. Learning a language by yourself, especially if it is Japanese which is one of the hardest languages according to some sources, is indeed challenging and not an easy task. However, if you are still planning to learn Japanese by yourself, you should consider some of the things below.

1. Reason

There are several reasons why people learn a language by themselves such as no japanese tutors/school nearby, not enough money, prefer to learn alone, and learning languages as a hobby. If your reason for learning Japanese is because there are no Japanese language tutors/schools nearby, you should consider taking online courses which you can take almost anywhere as long as there is internet available. As for the other reasons, all of them are pretty solid reasons to learn Japanese by yourself in my opinion.

2. Difficulty

As I mentioned before, Japanese is considered to be one of the most difficult languages for a foreigner to learn. Of course the difficulty of learning a language is subjective depending on the native language of the learner. A Korean native speaker for example can learn Japanese much easier than a native english speaker. If you really want to learn Japanese by yourself, you will need to do a lot of preparation and work to make your Japanese language learning successful. If you are not confident enough to handle such a difficult language, taking a course from a Japanese language tutor/school is always a choice.

3. Money

One of the reasons why people want to learn language by themselves is because of money. In my experience, learning a language by myself is indeed really inexpensive. There is no tutor’s fee, no need to buy a list of books, and no need to spend money on transportation if the lesson is taught offline. In my opinion, learning a language by ourselves to save money is a pretty solid reason. However, learning Japanese with a tutor is a much better way to learn the language even if it costs some money as not many people can actually effectively learn a language by themselves.

4. Time

Learning a language will surely take a lot of your time in order for you to actually become fluent in the language you are learning. Especially if you are learning Japanese, which can take even more time if you learn it by yourself because you need to do a lot of things that a language teacher usually does while you are still unable to speak Japanese. That is why if you want to spend less time to learn japanese, having a teacher would be a really good consideration.

That is all for today’s blog. By giving all of you some of the considerations you must have before you are trying to learn Japanese by yourself, you can really prepare yourself for your Japanese learning journey.
